About this page

This guide shows published handicaps and the holes where strokes are received or given. It does not depend on live scores.

In singles, allowances are calculated separately against each opponent. In better ball, the lowest handicap in the fourball plays off zero. In scramble and foursomes, the shared side handicap determines strokes. Stableford uses the individual playing handicap against the course.

Stroke index determines the holes. Your starting hole does not change the allocation. Positive values mean strokes received; negative values mean strokes given or returned.

How these strokes are allocated

Stroke allocation

The lowest playing handicap in this fourball (7) plays off zero. Each other golfer receives the difference. The same allowances apply to the whole better-ball match.

Stroke index determines the receiving holes, not the starting hole. More than 18 strokes gives one on every hole, then additional strokes in stroke-index order. Starting at another hole does not change the allocation.

The lowest playing handicap in this fourball (7) plays off zero. Each other golfer receives the difference. The same allowances apply to the whole better-ball match.
